LINER NOTES FROM BRYCE LAYMAN
When I made the decision to pursue this career path, so many songs came tumbling out of me at once I had difficulty capturing them. Many of those new songs share this album along with songs I wrote many years ago, in very different times and very different worlds from where I now stand. It is interesting how the same emotions have come through all those years to now. All songs are written on the guitar and all instruments on this album are created on a guitar synthesizer and electric and acoustic guitars. Recording, mixing and mastering were completed in my private digital project studio Spring 2004.

  1. Venable — A great southern Colorado hike with friends in the Sangre de Cristos. Taken the final days of the season, the ascent to Venable pass over the Phantom Terrace is one of the great Colorado outdoor experiences. Written almost ten years later in early 2004, this song captures the essence of that experience. (I, II, III)
  2. Reaching for the Light — Celebrating many thanks to all those who give of their time and hearts to help others. Another 2004 composition. (I, II)
  3. Remembrance — Looking back on what I did and reasoning then the rights and wrongs… Inspired by a poem I wrote as a teen, this is the first song written expressly for this CD using all electronic sounds. Created during the summer of 2003. (I)
  4. Adrift — Shades of hot summers cooled while lazily drifting downstream in canoes, gliding slowly as the shoreline passes you by. This is about taking the time to enjoy this great life. An acoustic guitar solo written in late spring 2004. (II)
  5. Following On — An epic adventure of good deeds, reflections of loved ones awaiting your return and a long life with a happy ending. I picked up playing Jazz early on and have kept at it. Written in 1978. (I)
  6. Far View — That great gift given which looks beyond the future and past to clearly see the now. When I quit worrying about tomorrow, today gets much more interesting. This acoustic piece was written in 1994. (I, II)
  7. Holding Lightly — That feeling of trees swaying in the light breeze in the deep azure blues of evening light at the end of a great day. Late 2003. (I)
  8. One Choice in Many — I always wanted to play piano, however, I chose to play guitar instead. These are the feelings I experienced when I got to go back and make another choice through today's technology. A song created in 1997 during a lot of changes. (I)
  9. High Touch — A chapter title from the 1980's book Mega Trends by John Naisbit. It explained how the more we deal with technology in our daily lives, the more we need "high touch" to keep the balance. Sort of like working with satellite technology all day then going home to a log cabin in the wilds without electricity or running water. An acoustic guitar solo written in 1984 at that time I discovered a new type of music called "New Age", which I had already been playing for years. (I)
  10. Eagle I Am — The visionary Renaissance person in all of us. What we all have the capability to make better in our worlds. Written in 1990 while still in awe after the birth of my first child. (I, II)
The following instruments were used in the creation of this work:
I. Brian Moore i-guitar i8.13 ~ 6 string electric & MIDI guitar and Roland GR-33 Guitar Synthesizer.
II. Ovation 1861 Standard Balladeer ~ 6 String acoustic guitar
III. Yamaha FG-411-12 ~ 12 String acoustic guitar

Digitally recorded, mixed and mastered using Cakewalk Sonar 3 sequencing software.
